Where's the risk you are protecting from?

Today I had a desktop stolen from the office in a buglary. So you tell
me how I bulletproof that one?

What do you think you are protecting your system from? What ports are
you exposing? What OS of the desktops? If you have 98's you probably
shouldn't be asking that question.

My DESKTOPS are my security risks.
My END USERS are when they choose stupid passwords.
My server is not the issue.

Don't open up that server for web traffic on port 80.
BUY a patch management program.
GET antivirus
Have ISA as your firewall...but honestly [and pardon me for being mean]
but that question of yours is so open ended it's not funny. What risks
are you protecting that server from?

Its very simple to do in 2 steps:

1) Disconnect it from the internet
2) Disconnect all users (block their accounts)

Sorry... I couldn't resist :-)

In all honesty all really depends on what services you need and then try to
reduce your attack surface.
