Migration assistant |

Hi,
We have a requirement to migrate the exisiting content HTML and some
document files form the physical folders to the MCMS 2002. Doing this
manually would definetly take up the project costs.
What I need here is to migrate the whole content including the folder
structure to the MCMS 2002, depicting the same structure methodologies as
these are referenced on a database.
Is there any kind of a code or program thru which we can achieve this? I
have also heard of Metalogix, but couldnt try it as my Project Manager
insists on doing this by code as the process control is better here. Please
help!!
Thanks in advance. |

It would be reasonably trivial to migrate file system and/or database based
content to MCMS using bespoke .NET code which interacts with the MCMS
Publishing API.
However, this approach is only economincal if the existing content is well
structured, the book, A complete guide to MCMS has a sample of this
approach.

However, the metalogix software is by far the best option I've used - having
used it on large and small projects I can testify this is a very good
option. The assertion that doing it by code offers greater process control
is errounous IMO.
You can get a eval of Migration assistant from www.metalogix.net and try it
out.

Hi Spencer,
Here is the architecture of my website: The whole content is on the HTML
files and some of these files have links to the main website for scripts like
authentication, etc., These linked up files on the main website are used for
navigational purposes and may be calle as Breadcrumbs in the MCMS
architecture. All the content files are structured in a separate
folder/subfolders appropriately. Would a Migration Manager tool help me to
export the same structure into the channels as it is?
Thanks!!
