Apostrophe saving and placeholders in CMS 2001 |
|
|
Greetings,
A colleague of mine sent me this question and was wondering if anyone has
encountered the following:
When saving a new page in CMS web author mode, the author is copying text
from the content page, that includes an apostrophe or double quotes, and
pasting it into the Name field for the page. CMS is accepting the text as a
valid page name. When another author tries to link to this page they receive
and page not found error. When looking at the hyperlink, it has put in a ?
where the apostrophe should have been. If I rename the page by removing the
apostrophe and then going back and typing it back in, the link will be %27 in
the link instead of the ? and will work correctly.
Is this expected behaviour? Is there a solution for this? |

Are you copying the text from a word processing application such as MS
Word? If you are, then most likely, the quotes or apostrophy are the
angled kind (which are not understood) rather than the straight kind
(which are). When you go back in and type it, you are making it the
straight kind - and all is well.
I guess the solution would be to change the angled quotes to the
straight kind after you paste it into the field...
