I was comparing the revision history of a very large posting and the whole
site became unresponsive. After a few mins, the site responded again but my
revision history never loaded.

I checked the Event Log and this was listed at the same time I did the
compare. I was able to reproduce this again.

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80041B58): Server error.

Hi Punisher,

does this repro all the time?
Means if you are doing the compare again, does it happen again?
Then it might be a database inconsistancy.

If not, it sounds like a termporary database connectivity problem.

Cheers,
Stefan.

Yes, on the production node I was able to reproduce it. I don't wanna try it
again because we get a bunch of phone calls if the author node goes down. I
tried it on our dev box, which connects to a different db, and I took a long
time to respond, but it did come back. While it was clocking, I couldn't
browse the any of the site with a different browser, but once the page came
back I could.

I did some further testing. I used 2 webserver pointing to 1 db. I ran my
test on server 1, as expect it clocked and I was unable to browse the site.
While server 1 was clocking I wen to server 2 on a different browser and had
no problems. So this leads me to believe the problem is with the webserver
and not the db.

Hi Punisher,

sounds as if you should open a support case for this.

Cheers,
Stefan.
