Guest access to CMS site, inside a SharePoint Virtual Server |
|
|
I am implementing a CMS-SPS combined solution. I have a virutal server
running a SharePoint portal (http://portal/) and a CMS site inside it
(http://portal/cms/).
I need the portal to require peple to login using their AD credentials for
personalization and security. However, I also want to let anyone access the
CMS pages as a reader (guest access). The CMS server is setup as a
Read/Write server (we're not running a sperate read-only site).
I've created a local user, gone into the SCA and set this user as the guest
user. I also went in and added this user (by username) to a subscribers
group. This group has read access to every channel in the CMS site.
However, I'm still being prompted to login (have IE set to always prompt
since I'm logged into the domain) when I access the CMS resources.
My concern: if I have my virtual server (in IIS) setup as anonymous access
and windows integreated, will the credentials still be passed down to the
portal? Even if they are, I'm still getting prompted to login for the CMS
resources.
I'm confused how you setup a CMS site for guest access inside a SharePoint
portal(which seemed to be what some of the Connector examples were doing).

Not sure if this helps or not...
In SharePoint you can grant AD groups access to portals/areas/etc. However
in CMS you have to grant specific users access to the security groups
(because there's no impersonation, CMS does a string lookup of the current
logged in user against the users listed in the available security groups
granted access.
What I need to do is grant anyone who's authenticated in our AD access to
our CMS resources... and was thinking making the site open to guest access
would be the easiest & simplest way. I'm open to other ideas.

Hi Andrew,
You can add AD Groups to subscriber roles in MCMS 2002 (if its Std Edition
apply hotfix 883638).
