Hi All,

Environment: MCMS Std Edition 2002, Patch SP1a + Hotfix 883638

I have 15 users assigned so the Administrators Rights Group. (one of
these users is called 112).

I then go to assign the user 112 (who is 1 of my 15 licensed users) to
an editor group. and I get the "The operation could not be completed because
it would put the server in violation of the Standard Edition License
restrictions."

This can't be right.

MCMS Std edition is limited to 15 unique users not unique user
assignments to non subscriber roles.

If I only put 14 users into the administrators rights group I can then
add the existing users into the editors rights group without a problem.

Also another MCMS Std Edition security issue: I cannot add an AD Group to a
non subscriber role even if the group has < 15 users...

Any ideas?

I can't answer the first one, but AD Groups are not supported for non
subscriber groups in Std AFAIK.

It makes sense - enumerating the group to check # of objects within MCMS
would be a bit crazy!

Hi Angus,

you need to install the following two hotfixes:
883638 (allows to add AD groups to subscriber rights groups)
890334 (allows to add 15 and not 14 users to different right groups)

There is no way to assign an NT/AD group to any non-subscriber rights group.
This is a limitation of Standard Edition as Spencer pointed out.

Cheers,
Stefan.

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for the quick response.

I can't seem to find a list of all the hotfixes required for MCMS 2002 SP1a
Standard Edition ... do you know of a list?

Also should hotfix 890334 apply to 'Microsoft Content Management Server 2002
Standard Edition SP1a' instead of Microsoft Content Management Server 2002
SP1 (see article) ?

Regards

Hi Angus,

there is no SP1 Standard edition.
Standard Editon was released as part of SP1a.
So that is just a wrong version in the kb.
Afaik these are all SE special fixes.

Cheers,
Stefan.
