Howdy all,

We're running XP SP1 with SNA Client SP3 for NT . I'm using Ghost to
reimage for testing. Whenever I install the HIS 2004 Client I do not get the
option to set SNABASE as a service. I definitely have admin rights on the
box.

The options I have set to install are:

* SNA Application Support
- NO SNA Manager
* Tools
- 3270 Client

I've tried installing with and without SNA client SP3 as well as SP4. We
were having this issue on our 2000 boxes until we realized that we needed to
install Q821887 first, not sure if it's related? Any assistance would be
greatly appreciated.

Fala - why do you need it running as a service? If you're just using it for
3270 clients then there's no need for it...

You must install the HIS admin client. Only choose the 3270 client option.
Then you get the option to check it to run as a service. You must provide a
valid service account and password initially. But once installed you can go
into the admin, service section and change it to run without the account
locally. That way whom ever is logged into that machine wit that ad or
domain account will only get those valid sna server assignments for that
user or machine.

When you install the HIS 2004 Client, the Configuration Wizard gives you a
Deployment Type option. The three options are Just Me, Everyone, Windows
Service. If you want/need to run SnaBase as a service, then you need to
select "Windows Service" as the deployment type.
