Hi,

In our domain there is a Windows 2003 Standard based PDC. It has worked for
months correctly but now it repeats one error. Once or twice per day the FRS
stops and this error message appears in event log:

==============================================
The File Replication Service is deleting this computer from the replica set
"DOMAIN SYSTEM VOLUME (SYSVOL SHARE)" as an attempt to recover from the
error state,
Error status = FrsErrorMismatchedVolumeSerialNumber
At the next poll, which will occur in 60 minutes, this computer will be
re-added to the replica set. The re-addition will trigger a full tree sync
for the replica set.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
==============================================

But nothing happens in next 60 minutes. Of course, SYSVOL share is being
disabled when this error occurs and no user can log in to domain. When I
manually restart FRS, it everything works again for next 12 or 24 hours
(this error occurs always at same time: 7.30 or 18:30).
I have tried to browse and search through google and MS KB, but found
nothing about this error.
I have set up a batch with NET STOP & NET START NTFRS a scheduled to run it
at 7:45 and 18:45 - it works, but it's just a patch.
Can anyone help me?

LG

Hi There,

I am receiving the same error message on one of my Windows 2003 DC. The error message Event ID 13560:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The File Replication Service is deleting this computer from the replica set "DOMAIN SYSTEM VOLUME (SYSVOL SHARE)" as an attempt to recover from the error state,
Error status = FrsErrorMismatchedVolumeSerialNumber
At the next poll, which will occur in 5 minutes, this computer will be re-added to the replica set. The re-addition will trigger a full tree sync for the replica set.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have not been able to find any reference except for your note about this error. Have you had any luck in finding anything?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Bora

I posted an answer to the other thread but will post it here in case some
unlucky Googler stumbles across this and the only answer is "I answered the
other thread" ;-)

I would perform a non-authorative restore of the SYSVOL on the machine that
is logging this error.

To do this, stop FRS (net stop ntfrs), change the following registry value
to D2 and then start FRS (net start ntfrs):

HKLM\ SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\ Services\ NtFrs\ Parameters\
Backup/Restore\ Process at Startup\BurFlags
