Hi,

Before I go into alot of detail, I'll ask the main
question:

Does HIS 2000 on a Windows 2000 server support Multidrop
connections?

I'm using Eicon P92 SDLC cards and connecting (via a modem
eliminator) directly to my 3745 FEP. Both drops work on
their own, but I can't bring both up at the same time.

Thanks,

NATD.

Based upon my previous experience with Eicon cards, the P92 card will only
support one PU per physical connection. The card does have 2 physical
connections thought. The Eicon S series cards will support multiple PU's,
and while it's been a while I believe the maximum number that they will
support is 9. Hope that helps.

While not quite what I wanted to hear, yes, that is
helpful. I have 2 P92s but all 4 ports are used. I've
recently come into this office and am trying to get more
use out of the HIS server without buying more cards!

Thanks for the reply.

NATD,

Have you configured a linkservice per PU? I'm pretty sure that's what I had
to do to get multiple PU's working on any Eicon card. Definitely done it and
had it working with S5x and S9x cards. Can't recall 100% whether I've used the
P9x ones or not.

NATD,

You may want to check the link service for the card and see if it has the
ability to set DTS to HIGH.

This setting can cause one PU to be the only connection that is allowed to
send data over a Multidrop line, and would explain why you can only have
one connection at a time.

Hi,

I've tried creating it's own link object - same result.

I can't see DTS /HISG on the link service, but on the connection there is a
data rate (high/low). I tried setting them all to low, no change.

I have been in touch with Eicon to see if the P92 is supposed to support
multidrop - they aren't sure, but are finding out for me. I think they will
be trying to sell me an S94 which I might have to buy - they are pretty
pricy but it will still be cheaper for the number of lterms I get through
multidrop.

If you have anything else I can look at, please suggest it!

Incidentally, the error code in my event log is "010" which is about the
only number WITHOUT a description...

NATD.
