backup/restore |

I have a SharePoint installed on a Windows 2003 Server that I now need to
make a Domain Controller. It is using a SQL Server as it's backend.
According to the following article:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/wss/2/all/adminguide/en-us/stsi01.mspx
I will have to uninstall STS and IIS then DCPROMO. At that point I can
install IIS and STS. Could someone please provide me the method I would use
to backup and restore the STS?
Thanks much!!!

STS is not supported on the Win 2003 Server platform.
However I suspect that you are not using STS (this newsgroup) but in fact
Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) which requires Win 2003 Server.
If so please post to the WSS newsgroup
(microsoft.public.sharepoint.windowsservices) and call the product WSS and
not STS.
STS or SharePoint Team Services is the old product that came out in 2001.

Okay so is this correct:
SharePoint TeamServices is old 2001 product
Windows SharePoint Service is the free download from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/technologies/sharepoint/default.mspx
and then there is SharePoint Portal Server 2003 that is the paid app.
Am I missing any other Sharepoint something???
Thanks much!!

Apart from SharePoint Portal Server 2001 which was the earlier version (and
completely different) of SharePoint Portal Server 2003, you have them all.
(STS (2001) came with FP 2002 and Office XP versions including FP 2002.)
