How do I configure sharepoint services to search the discussion boards?
Currently it only searches list items and documents.

If by "sharepoint services" you mean as I suspect the product "Windows
SharePoint Services" then this is the wrong newsgroup.

This newsgroup is for the earlier product "SharePoint Team Services" (2001).

Please post instead to microsoft.public.ssharepoint.windowsservices

(The answer there is I suspect that what WSS searches is defined in the
product and therefore it is difficult if not impossible to change in the
respect you want. But ask there.)
