You are not authorized... |
|
|
I've set up MSFT SpTs on a Windows2000SP4 server that belongs as
standaloneserver to an existing AD
When I connect to the server as admin, there is no problem
When I try to connect to the server as a restricted user I get "You are not
authorized to..." as a result.
I checked the KB with no success...
I am not able to create any restriced (browse only) user for my Website...
it's all or nothing
Any ideas where to start ?
Many thanks in advance

Are you using the same computer and same browser when you access as a
restricted user?

I don't understand this. If you can't create a restricted access user, how
did you "try to connect to the server as a restricted user"?

Yes of course!

Hmm sorry was confusing! |
I'am able to create the users (I tried both : domain\domain users and
domain\specific user) BUT they are not able to acces the wesite.
The only way I found to be able to log in is to define the domain\domain
users as local admin on the server running sharepoint.. but then they are
all admins and not browsers what I want them to be :(

A couple of ideas which are worth trying but longshots.
1. Try accessing the site via the TCP/IP adddress rather than the URL
2. Try moving the site to Trusted Sites in the IE browser (I presume you are
using IE 6.x ?)
I'm assuming that something like this is the reason why you can access the
site as a local administrator but not as anything else, but as I write above
it's just a wild guess.

I had that Idea too ... no way

Yes I do use IE6 ... but it does not matter with which user I log on to
windows. Being logged as user "tester" I am perfectly able to use the
settings of user "tester" when giving the credentials of the administrator
when prompted to :(
This story drives me mad. I presume (wild guess of my side) that sth
went wrong with the GPO on ther server... but it must be sth weird. I
already checked that the local "anonymous user" has the rights to connect
localy and via network... I'm trying to investigate that direction but it is
not that obvious... I'm going to try to install SP on another server and
then I'll have a look what's going on... maybe I'll see more clear after
this.
Any idea of how to reset the GPO to the windows default ?
best
