Docs coming back as Read Only |
|
|
I have a site with STS v1.0 on a standalone server - and on this STS site
they are hosting multiple document libraries. No matter what we do it seems
that all the documents are read only - we have confirmed that user
permissions are correct. We can publish new documents to the site, but then
if we try to edit them we get them showing as Read Only when we open them
for editing.
Any ideas please?

Wayne,
A couple of questions:
What are you hosting STS on? Win2000, Win2k server, etc.
Are the documents opening in Word or in the browser?

Roger asked about the OS, I'll ask about the version of Office.
If you are opening them with Edit in MS Word when running anything older
than Office XP or Office 2003, this will not work and you will not be able
to save back to the site (i.e. they will be opened as Read-only allowing
Save As only.)
Opening in the browser is always read-only.

Guys,
Thanks for the feedback - looks like someone messed with teh installation
and modified a number of settings on the IIS side of things - redid the
installation and it's working fine now.
