Hi Tomas
Are you still running into this SP3 issue with CS2000?

Hello All,
I'm trying to install SP3 on a dev box running CS2000 w/ SP2
installed.
I've copied the path to the dev box on D:\Updates\SP3
When I run the sp3setup.exe I get prompted to insert the Commerce
Server CD-ROM.
Ive put the CD into the Drive but I keep getting a "Errror 1706. No
valid source could be found... Commerce Server 2000..."
If I copy the file it needs "Commerce Server 2000.msi" into the
D:\Updates\SP3 folder the installation runs fine, but then the CS
Manager won't launch (It keeps trying to run the install from the
d:\Updates\SP3 folder.
Currently I'm in a Catch-22 because I can't un-install SP3 because
it's looking for the "CS2000.msi" file even though the CD is in the
Drive) and I can't try to re-install SP3 because is thinks that
another installation is in progress and quits.
So... how do I trouble shoot this?
Any help is appreciated.

Basically, we wrote this one off.
This entire episode started when we troubleshooting another problem
and the recommendation from MS was to install SP3 (that was probably a
mistake since the solution came elsewhere).
Tthe problem seems to be that, on the machine in question, CS2K was
installed from as MSDN disk, and (somehow) the path to the CS2K
install location is persisted (somewhere). Now, the MSI requires the
original installation media (which we don't have - this one is on us).
Since MS CS2K is no longer provided on any MSDN media, we can't
provide the installation app at the "correct" location and so we are
not able to perform the upgrade or removal.
Fortunately, this client is looking at upgrding the app to CS2002 and
this issue may fall by the wayside (unresolved).
Tthis has been frustrating because the support we got from MS (at out
expense), was incorrect. It ended up wasting 3 months of developer
time (not full-time, thankfully) and ended up not resolving our issue.
I enjoy working with CS most of the time. Then there are episodes such
as this which make me want to scrap the whole thing and start over
from scratch.
Sorry for the rant.
