I have a 1 user who is prompted for authentication using a domain account
when accessing a sharepoint site.

This individual has successfully logged on previously without the logon
prompt coming up.

Although, even though he is promted for authentication, if you hit cancel,
the homepage still comes up, and the user is bombarding with continous
prompts.

He are more details:

This user does not have this issue from other machines.

On the problem machine, I do not have the issue when I log in. (Profile
specific)

I have deleted all of the Temporary Internet files though the command
prompt.

I have Clear Passwords within Internet Options.

Hope this is clear and I appreciate any insight into this issue.

Take care.

This suggests to me that the home page has some content on it that is coming
from somewhere outside of the portal. It may be that the "other location"
should be listed as a trusted site, or similar, in order to force
transparent authentication.

Are there any differences in the zone definitions between your account and
the user?

Does the appearance of the page change noticeably if he enters his username
and password?

Unfortunately, this isn't the case. He can log on from another computer and not experience the issue.

No, they are identical.

No. The user clicks cancel 2 times and the page appears normally, but everytime he navigates accross the links contained within the page, he is prompted and must click Cancel again (once).

Again, thanks for your help regarding this issue. I am

Do you use roaming profiles?

If you do, then I'm not entirely convinced this is just a profile specific
issue because it doesn't explain why that user doesn't have the issue on
other machines. One possibility that might explain it all is that the
profile on the problematic machine is corrupt in some way. Deleting it might
solve the problem.

If you do NOT use roaming profiles, try deleting the profile on the
problematic machine.

In either case, deleting the profile on the problematic machine seems to be
my next suggestion :-)

Hi!

I had some similar probs on a client-machine, so try this:
Check if the authentication is enabled in the computer that is having the
issue

In ie:
tools > Internet Options > Advanced > under security > enable windows
integrated authentication
