When I do a restore using smigrate, I do not get the meta data (created by)
information for folders inside document libraries.
Actual Document meta data is restored correctly, but not the folders. Folder
Names get restored correctly though.

How can I get this around? is this a known issue?

There are known problems with folders within doc libs.

(Not officially recognized in any KB article but there have been enough
issues reported here in the newsgroup.)

This is probably just another one of them.

The workaround is to use views instead of folders to group your documents
(or of course different document libs).

Views have been around since 2001 (in STS) and work. [Folders were added in
WSS and - in my opinion only - were not there as a replacement for the use
of Views/other doc libs]

I have had the same problem with restored sites changing the Created and
Modified information for folders inside document libraries to be that of the
account used to run smigrate.

I don't think anything will be done about this in the short term but I'll
make some inquires.

Ian
