[Aside: it's not STS v2, it's WSS = Windows SharePoint Services, There is no
STS v2.]
Usually this would mean that default.aspx isn't defined on your list of
default home pages in IIS.
It's odd because a normal install of WSS should have four such default
addresses including default.aspx.
