Any Browser Cache Work Arounds? |
|
|
When documents are updated using the browser does not display the new updates
until the cache is cleared.
We use mht files for common documents, have versioning turned on and allow
anonymous access as a reader. But when we update the documents and then the
users use the browser to read it still shows the old document because the
page is cached. We turned the IE 6.0 setting to always check for changes but
since the current version has not "changed" it does not show the updates
until the user hits the IE refresh button. It will also show the updates if
the cache is first deleted.
This was posted back in October and just hoping someone has a work around.
This seems like a pretty big issue if you want users to see the correct
information.
If no work around is there a time limit to the cache showing the old data? A
few minutes is okay. A few days, weeks, months, years or eternity is not :-(

It's the way it works.
This is probably the reason you've had no reply that satisfied you.
Check your other IE settings too. I have this kind of thing (needing to
refresh IE (like you days; weeks later)) happening on my work machine on
*other kinds* (non WSS) of sites too while the same sites on my home machine
always give me the new versions of the page.
Needless to say I've not worked out which setting is causing this.
