OWA not seen from RWW Main Menu |
|
|
It used to be that when we log in to RWW, we had a menu option of something
like "Read my Email" as well as "Connect to my Desktop".
Now the "Read my Email" has GONE. This measn we have to activate teh entire
remote desktop if all we want to do is check email.
Where did the OWA option go? |

Hi MTV,
Run the Connect to the Internet wizard again, electing to make OWA
accessible and see if that resolves it. If not, post back and we can check
the registry for the correct settings.
BTW, if you only want to check email, RWW isn't the most efficient way.
Instead of RWW https://fqdn/remote, try https://fqdn/exchange and you go
directly to OWA, bypassing RWW.

Thanks Les
I know you gurus see this as simple, but some of us newbies do get a little
left behind. I really appreciate your patience and help.
If I can give remote users ONE address to type as a launch pad, so much the
better. But I will personally always use your shortcut to OWA.
There are two wizards. It would seem logical that remote access would be
done from the "Configure Remote Access" wizard, but it seems that is only for
VPN and TS, neither of which I require (is that correct?).
Then I run the Connect to the Internet wizard. It asks me to tick and/or
from 4 items. E-mail, VPN, TS, FTP. Well I am stonkered!! It was already
ticked for the first 3, but FTP not ticked. I never saw any chance to select
WW and/or OWA.
Am I the dummy?
I just want RWW (including OWA). We don't require VPN or FTP. Is RWW and OWA
anything to do with TS or FTP?
Sorry to sound confused, but I am!!
Incidentally, when I ran "Connect to the Internet" I got a big red error
cross against "Secure Web Site Configuration". Dunno what that means either.

Hi Mark,
The RRAS wizard is indeed for VPN or modem dialup to your server. It has got
nothing to do with TS.
You don't check FTP, as you surely are not running FTP server on your box,
right? If you have enabled RRAS for VPN, you check VPN. Of course you will
check email and if you want TS from outside (only for admin) you check the
TS box.
In the next screen you should see all the services you want to enable from
the internet. Have a look here:
Smallbizserver.Net > Network > SBS 2003 Standard with UPnP router:
http://www.smallbizserver.net/Default.aspx?tabid=165
What is your network setup?

Problem solved due to your wise words and excellent article. Now all menu
options from the RWW are available again.
Our setup is ADSL line to Router/Modem to WAN NIC (192.168.0.2) to SBS Std
to LAN NIC (192.168.16.2) to Switch to WAP and Cat5's to workstations. I
think this is the std and recommended structure, and it works well.
Tks again, Mark
