Hello all,
We are planning to have a sharepoint deploying in a small group. We don't
want to buy MS SQL server right away. Instead, we use MSDN for now. Later,
we will migrate database from MSDE to MS SQL server. Is it possible. If so,
would you please help me find the how-to articles on this?

Thank you much.

The easiest way is just to insert the SQL Server 2K CD in the CD drive and
select (when given the option) upgrade. (followed later by SQL Server 2K SP
3A).

This naturally upgrades a single server installation in site.

You can also look at the Admin Guide. Backup and Restore looks suitable.

But to answer your main question, yes, it is possible.

You can also use STSADM to back the site up and then restore it after you
install SQL. Mike's idea is best if you're going to install SQL on the same
machine that's running IIS. If you install SQL on another machine, it seems
easiest to do the backup and restore.
