Sharepoint Installation failure |
|
|
I'm trying to install Sharepoint services after i unintalled them (dont ask
me why). Now i run the setupts.exe file and nothing happens. the event viewer
gives me messages like soap error and "starting application with invalid
parameters" !
Does anyone know what is going on? I'm trying to install from a Microsoft CD
called Microsoft Sharepoint Services Standard. (the same thing is happening
with the downloaded Sharepoint Services with SP ) |

1. I would always install from the download (I've actually never heard of
the CD)
2. Can you specify the exact soap error, there are a couple of KB articles
and if we knew the exact message it would be possible to check against them.
3. Did you read the Admin Guide's installation section before installing and
did you follow the instructions there and also did you install on a clean
(and non-DC) machine.
4. Did you do the default (WMSDE) installation or the server farm
installation that needs SQL Server 2K.

Re: Sharepoint Installation failure |

Hi.
I downloaded the updates for Small Business Server 2003 and it seems that it
installed Sharepoint services (there is an entry on the installed programs on
the server) but i cant get it to work. Below after this message i'm pasting
the events that are occuring. Yes i read the instructions on how to install
Sharepoint services.
The installation neven gor that far to select any option. After clicking on
the file setupts.exe it seems to start and then stops without promting for
anything. The Small Business Server that i'm trying to install is not clean
from DC. I have installed previously Project Server 2003 and reinstalled SQL
Server 2000 and because i could not get Sharepoint services to connect to the
configuration database I unistalled them.
Although after the Windows Server updates where Sharepoint seem to be
installed i cant access the Administrators page (Page not found error). Also
there is not a virtual site for Sharepoint Adminstration (there was one
before i unistalled Sharepoint services)
Below are the error messages that i got , on the EVent viewer:

As you are actually installing SBS 2003 you should really be asking in that
newsgroup. (This newsgroup only covers (as far as installing the product
goes) standard WSS.)
But as this has come up before here, I have a long article in the WSS FAQ
with various problems with "companyweb" which you might usefully read first
before posting to microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs
It's here
