I have a webpart that contains a Microsoft.Web.UI.WebControls.TreeView
control. I have put the dll for the treeview in the bin folder, tried
registering it in the GAC but to no avail.

When the webpart includes the line

_tree = new Microsoft.Web.UI.WebControls.TreeView();

and I add it to a page, it crashes giving the error page:

==========================================================
An unexpected error has occurred.

Web Parts Maintenance Page: If you have permission, you can use this
page to temporarily disable Web Parts or remove personal settings. For
more information, contact your site administrator.

Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services.

==========================================================
Even putting the offending line inside a try-catch didn't help.
What do I need to do?

Thanks,

Rafi

Hi Rafi

Not sure about what the problem is, but first step is to disable the
standard CustomError-page Sharepoint is serving up with a proper stack
trace, in order to be able to pinpoint the underlying cause.

To do this, modify the <customErrors> and <SafeMode> tags as described in
http://www.devx.com/dotnet/Article/17518/1763/page/6

Then try posting the callstack and relevant parts of the Webpart code,
then perhaps someone will be able to help you out.
