Dear Friends,
We have created a site in Sharepoint portal server 2003 with Integrated
authentication so that our Domain users can access the site getting
authenticated using their user credentials.
For this we had created a certain security group in the Active directory
and added required users to those groups.
Now our requirement is that while assigning permission on site we want to
assign to those security groups so that when the user is assigned or removed
from the security group his/her access to the site will automatically get
updated.
But in actual what happenes is that when we assign permission to a group
on the site it looks in the address book and extracts all the user id to be
given permission. which means it gives permission user by user instead of
giving it to security group.
Is there anyway through which we can fulfill our requirement.
Looking forward to everyone's help.

Regards
BurhanM

So just to make it clear, did u create a group in AD or u just created the
security group in ur personal outlook address book? when u add the later
group into the sps sites security users, it will add user by user, not like a
group according to my experience.

Dear Ted,
I created the security group in AD, but also i want to know is that the
permission on site will dynamically update or not when a user is added or
removed from the security group in AD.
looking forward to your cooperation.

The authentication automtaically check the AD if u set the IIS is wnodnows
integrated. So when AD updated, the check should bework on new users or
removed users.

Dear Ted,
I checked and found that this check doesn't work if the permission is set
for security group. which means when i add a user to the security group it
doesn't allow the user automatically the priviledge to access the site untill
i manually add the user to site permission list.
Is there any resolution to this problem.
Thanking u for your previous replies.

cos i do not have right to add user into the AD group, i cannot test it. So
how about reimport user profile via Site Setting -> Manage User Profile after
u change the AD group members?

I am not sure whether the authentication also related with the user profile.
so i suggest u to reimport the user profile database.

Site Settings -->
Manage Profile Database -->
Start full import
