DHCP & DNS setup |
|
|
I'm trying to setup a small home LAN & failing miserably.
Here goes:
I'm running W2k3 with DC & AD. I have 2 NIC cards, 1 is my broadband
connection & the other is for the internal LAN.
My ISP use DHCP to assign IP's & DNS IP's dynamically.
When I try to setup a DHCP & DNS server on my computer the DHCP is given the
IP of my ISP!! My ISP dynamically assigns DNS.
What I'm trying to do is setup DHCP & DNS and want my server to assign the
IP's for my clients which its not doing at the moment.
Hope this makes sense & any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S You can probably tell I'm a novice at this |

Re: DHCP & DNS setup |

Try:
1. Right click My Network Places and select Properties. Click
Advanced/Advanced Settings and make sure that the internal NIC is at the top
of the binding order. This connection must have a statically assigned IP
address.
2. Open the DHCP console, right click on the server and select Properties.
Click on the Advanced tab and the Bindings button. Make sure that DHCP is
bound only to the statically assigned IP for the internal LAN NIC.
3. Open the DNS console, right click the server and select Properties.
Click the Interfaces tab and make sure that only the IP address for the
internal LAN NIC is listed. The server must be configured to point to
itself for primary DNS.
