We have external customers and we don't want them to know about each
other. Is there any way that we can make them go directly to their own
site after they log on to sharepoint? Also, we wouldn't want them to be
able to go anywhere else but their site.

I know I could make a virtual server and create a new portal but I
wanted to know if there was a way to do it with having only one portal
for external customers and internal employees.

Do your customers have site collections allocated to them? What is you site
hierarchy that you are trying to manage? What are you trying to separate?

Nigel.

There is going to be at least 3 sites for employees within our domain.
The customers will reside outside the domain. We are trying to come up
with different ways on how to keep the employees seperate from the
customers and the customers seperate from the other customers. So maybe
customer A will have its own site and customer B will have another
site. But we don't want customer A to know that customer B exists and
vice versa. I know that we can always create a new virtual server but
we wanted to explore different options. I hope the explanation
clarifies my question

Well, if you are ok creating a site hierachy, then allocate your different
customers a site at the site collection level with unique security settings.
Then, break the link to the portal so that they are not able to use the SPS
features and 'discover' the other sites. Make sure you turn anonymous off.

Nigel.

Ok, I found how to break the link.

Site Settings --> Site Admin --> site collection admin --> config
connection to portal site

Thanks for your help Nigel
