not able to create new portal |
|
|
hi,
When i try to create a new portal in SPS 2003, its gives this error.
pls help. thanks
No virtual servers are available or the selected virtual server is
already extended.
The current topology is not supported.
One or more fields contain invalid information.
The URL has incorrect syntax or contains one or more directories.
Portal sites can only be created at the root of the virtual server. |

:-) Sounds like you have a few different problems ....
The "No Virtual Servers" means that the SPS front end box cannot find any
virtual servers available to create the portal on. You need to create a new
virtual server in IIS Manager then try again!
What is your topology, i.e. what are the boxes that SharePoint is installed
on, what boxes is SQL installed on, etc. This will tell us whether your
topology is correct or not.
We really need a bit more information on how you managed to get those errors
before helping much.

Apparently, each portal has to be the root in its virtual server. Have |
you created a new virtual server to host the new portal. This is done
in the Appsrv.msc. Set the port of the new virtual server as "All
Unassigned" and give it a unique host header. A fixed IP is not a
supported topology in SPPS.
