User profile import from AD error with SPS 2003 |
|
|
Hi,
I've been trying to do a profile import from Active directory.
I have created a custom source and specified the domain controller. I have
followed the steps as described in the following Microsoft article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;840518
Unfortunately, this does not work. The Import fails giving a "Logon failure:
unknown user name or bad password" error. When I examine the log I get the
following message:
13/01/2005 2:22:25 PM Add Content source URL: spsimport://aaa-aaa-01
The Full update is complete
13/01/2005 2:22:25 PM Modify spsimport://aaa-aaa-01
The address could not be found, (0x8007052E - Logon failure: unknown
user name or bad password. )
13/01/2005 2:22:24 PM Add Content source URL: spsimport://aaa-aaa-01
The Full update was started
The content source URL is different to the source I specified. I have tried
this using a network administrator account and automatically detecting the
Domain controller in the past with no luck.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the account you are using to do the import does not have the
proper rights to do so. Try using a different account. You could try a
domain admin account just to see if it does work.

I have already tried using a network administrator account (please see
original message).
I don't think it has anything to do with user accounts though. The problem
lies in the sps content source URL is completely wrong even though I have
specified the correct domain controller.
