SharePoint already tracks this for you. See usage details in the
administration screens for both SPS and WSS sites. There's also the IIS
logs which will give you lots of details with a good log analyzer
(SawMill was a good one I looked at before). There's also a couple of
usage tools (SharePoint reports comes to mind but don't think it tracks
users, just configuration information). Depends on what it is you're
looking to track/report on? What problem are you trying to solve or do
you just want to look at numbers?

Any particular reason why you posted the same message/question 4 times
(each with a different signature/subject so it wasn't an accidental "I
clicked the send button over and over")

Hi Bill,
I also have the same question. We would like to track which authenticated
user accessed which document in SPS doc lib. I am generating the usage
analysis reports but they do not report which documents were accessed. I have
processed IIS logs but they do not give this information too. Can you sugegst
any other tool or software? Thanks
