My install of SBS has been very stable and smooth until recently. Recently,
out of the blue, the server has been cutting internet access to the clients.
The clients still have access to the server resources and the internal
website, but when they seek to access to the internet, the website do not
resolve.

I have determined that this is not a problem with my I.S.P. as the server
maintains internet access. The clients get their email via Exchange.
Currently, while my cleints are locked out, I am on the web using the server.

I have re-run the Internet and Email wizzard numerous times. Sometimes
internet access is resumed, but only to have it cut out again. I shut down
the Trend Office Scan on the server to see if it was blocking the traffic,
but the traffic is still blocked. Any ideas on what this problem is?

Open the Services Applet in the Administrative Tools. Next time it quits,
click the "Restart" button on the Routing and Remote Access. If it starts
working again the problem may be with RRAS. I had one act like that
once,..never found a solution exactly and there were never any relevant
event logs, but the machine was due to get reloaded from scratch and it
never done it again after the reload. Maybe others will have ideas to solve
it if that is where the problem lies.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Upon your advise I tried this but it did not
work. I just reran the internet and mail wizzard and restarted the server,
and still the cleints are locked out of the internet. I have already disable
the windows firewall in the cleints just in case it was associated with XP
service pack 2 on my clients, but it has had no effect.

I have no idea what starts and stops it. Yesterday I went through SBS
set-up and reinstalled a the internet, netoworking, and adminsitrative tools
moduals hoping that would fix the problem, but it has not worked. Right now,
notihing I do get it started.

I uninstalled the Trend Anti-Virus from the system to see if it was the
problem. The problem persists. Workstations have full access to Server
shared resources. The only thing which they cannot access is the internet.
The server continues to have full access to the internet, it just isn't
passing it along to the workstations.

Hi Jimmy,

DNS on the external nic should *** ONLY *** point to the server IP.
Change it and rerun the CEICW wizard.
