State Monitoring in MOM 2005 ? |
|
|
Hi
I have runned the "Management Pack Wizard" from the MOM Resourcekit.
When I open the State in the MOM Concole, I have got at new bullet under the
MP I just have created, but when I click this new bullet to get the state, I
just got an "empty" state, where the servername is listed, but no state
monitoring ?
How do I get the state with all fancy bullets, like when I click the OS or
IIS ?
Do I need to write some scripts to get this ? is this documentet in the SDK ?
BR

Let me explain the bullets involved:
Top Level Bullet: [Visible on the Top Panel when you click on State view] --
One of this bullet will be created for the "Role Name" provided in the
"Management Pack Wizard"
Lower Level (Fancy) Bullet: [Visible on the Lower Panel when you click on
individual Role] -- One bullet will be created for each of the "Components"
added in the "Management Pack Wizard"
"Management Pack Wizard" creates the Service Discovery and the State
Monitoring Rules by default and hence it is not required to add/modify any
data.
Please ensure that you've created Role and Components using the "Management
Pack Wizard".
Let me know if you still have issues!

Thanks
But is it possible to add/rename the Serverrole or component ? if for some
reason the name created with the wizard it not right ? or should I run the
wizard once more, to create one more MP ?

1. There is no way to add/rename the Server Role or Component
2. Even if you create the MP again using the MP Wizard, then while imporing
on the same machine, there will be a copy of error for the "Class Name" as
the previous Server Role/Component exists on that machine.
I would appreciate if you could provide your feedback on this issue at
http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/ProductFeedback/. We'll make necessary action
to fix this issue soon.

Update:
Solution:
1. Remove all unwanted Server Role & Components
-- The product team has given a Script to PSS to solve this. Please make a
call to PSS and get the script. Considering this is a known issue, you won't
be charged for this call.
2. Create the MP again and import it.
Hope this helps!
