MOM Proxy ? |
|
|
What I want to do is have my Windows Server behind a firewall forward
all of their data to a single none Management Server (just a server
with the normal default MOM agent installed) and then the proxy would
forward the info on to the Mgmt Server...but from MS Docs...
"MOM 2005 supports proxy agents. This is an agent that can forward
data to a Management Server on behalf of computer or network device
other than its host computer. For example, a computer running a UNIX
or LINUX operating system might forward its syslog to the sysport of an
agent computer. By using custom or third-party Management Pack rules
to process the data, the agent can then forward it to a Management
Server..."
They then point me to the MOM 2005 SDK link.
? If I'm understanding this correctly, it IS possible to do what I want
but it would take a custom MP to do it. Correct? and if so, how big
of an undertaking would it be to create a MP that could do this?
(Seems like I could maybe just modify the existing ones...but I'm brand
spanking new at this and haven't a clue as to what's involved).
TIA.

If what you want is full-blown MOM functionality for the proxied servers, you
can't .

In the case below, you could use the MOM-to-MOM Product Connector to forward
the operational data from the server beyond the firewall to the internal
server. For more information about Connectors, see the MOM 2005 Security
Guide.
You can get the Security Guide at:
