Shared Resource NIGHTMARE!! |
|
|
I am having endless problems with users not being able to access shared
resources (folders/printers)
We have a 15 node network, all clients on XP SP2 & SBS 2003 server.
Some clients can access shared resources, some cannot. All are part of the
same security group (domain users) and all have the same privileges on the
share.
The error message displayed when 'clicking' on the particular resource in
windows explorer is 'Login failure:the user has not been granted the
requested logon type at this computer'
Event viewer doesn't show anything weird on the 'problem' clients, and they
can all 'ping' the client with the share they are trying to access.
Anybody have any ideas??

I had a similar issue. You might want to check the "Deny access to this
computer from the network"

Don't know if this will work - I can access shared resources from another
pc - so it is not the shares that are at fault - I can also access shares
from the problem pc with an administrator username/password - which would
point the finger at user rights - but as i said, all users have the same
rights!!
Any other suggestions?

Well - you were right - I checked it & that was the culprit!!
I wonder why it only reared it's head last week - I can only guess after
patching the server it changed a property somewhere!
Cheers
