Company owner has wireless laptop WITHOUT a 3-1/2 floppy drive.
The office has WAP and he is part of the SBS2000 AD domain.
Had problem adding laptop to domain because there is no 3 1/2 to install
client diskette.
So we have a "chicken and egg" which I solved by manually adding to domain
and then loading firewall client manually.

to further complicate issue:

same computer is taken home and I have setup a wireless gateway router there
for him.
what I need to happen is:
1. upon boot up of laptop
a. connect to wireless network
b. start VPN to office server
c. allow owner to log into domain

Can this be done?? and HOW

TIA

Rick,

I have a client with the same type of setup. Yes it can be done. It
depends on the client OS. If windows2000 Pro or Windows XP Pro it's simple.

1. Upon boot it should automatically check for a wireless access point and
connected if it is a preferred network. Be sure to have windows manage your
wireless network connections, this can be found in your wirelesss network
connections.
2. Set up VPN connectoid to your office VPN server or gateway using Windows
Network Connection Wizard. Save the users name and password as well as set
it up to use domain.
3. At the logon window click on the options button. Be sure the office
domain is listed. Check the box that says "Logon using dial-up connection".
Have the user enter their domain username and password. And click ok.
4. It will prompt you for the VPN connection. If the settings have been
saved click connect.

It will connect and download the users profile via the VPN connection (As a
note...this process can be slow)
