I have SBS 2000 running exchange.

I have a client pc that does not get an automatic notification when an email
arrives. There is a check box in the properties, however, if the client
clicks on anything in outlook the email will pop up immediately, but if
outlook is minimized then it takes up to an hour before the client recieves
an email alert.

Hi Dave,

And why are you using PST when you have Exchange? Convert them to Exchange
mailboxes, and your troubles are over.

I know that their mail comes from the server it's not stored on their C
drives. I just assumed it was a pst file. We are using Exchange? So, I'm
confused as to what you are referring too?

Hi Dave,

PST's are personal folders, which should not be used in the Outlook profile.
Check it.
