I just upgraded from 2000 Adv Server to 2003 Adv Server. I now need to
create 2 partitions from one. Volume manager is not a viable solution since
it does not work for server 2003. Is there another product that can be used?
Short of wipeing the system and starting over from scratch? You would think
this would have been addressed by MS by now.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rob,

Is there any critical data on that partition you want to seperate to two?
Is it a system partition?

Officially, we suggest you use the followoing methods to divide one
partition to two:

Method1: Backup and Restore.
================================

Use NTbackup utitlity to backup the whole partition.

Delete the partition by using Windows 2003 installation CD and create new
partitions.

Install Windows 2003 on the new partition and restore the data.

Method 2: Use a Interim server
=================================

Add a intermin server and install Windows 2003, promote it to be an
additional DC in the network.

Re-partition the original DC and install Windows 2003 on it.

In addition, I have heard symantec ghost supports WIndows 2003, however, I
have not used it. You may consult Symatenc support to confirm this. For
your covneneince, I have listed the Symantec support below:
