LDIFDE Command |

Hi Everyone,
I'm currently trying to export AD data from our production environment into
our new test lan and the command that I am running is from the textbook
(with the relevant parts changed) but it does not seem to work.
I am logging on to a DC (in our production environment) with a Domain
Administrator account and the command that I am using is:
ldifde -f mydomainOu.ldf -s myserver -d "dc=mydomain,dc=com" -p subtree -r
"(objectClass=organizationalUnit)" -l "cn,objectclass,ou"
The command runs successfully but no entries are listed at all. The DC is
also a DNS server and a GC.
Any ideas?

Hi Shaunk,
I have tested the ldifde, and it is running quite well on my side. We may
take some time to troubleshoot this issue.
Please try these steps to check the result:
1. Please Identifies the export file name explicitly.
For example, -f c:\mydomainOu.ldf
2. Please check your DNS configuration to make sure the DNS server points
to itself.
3. If there are other DCs, please run the command "ldifde" on them to test
whether they have the same problem.
If the problem persists, please take a screen shot to see the effect of
running the command "ldifde".

Hi Frances,
Many thanks for that. I managed to resolve the problem this morning. The
problem was that I had specified an export file name of
child.mydomain.co.uk.Ou.ldf - which clearly appears to be incorrect. So I
amended it to mydomainOu.ldf
It really is amazing because sometimes these errors can stare you right in
the face and you won't find them so easily :-s
All seems fine now :-)
