Any advice or white paper/instructions about adding a Windows 2003 server to
a Windows 2000 AD domain? The 03 won't be a DC for now. Will add Exchange
2003 to it. Found lots of advice for adding/migrating from NT4 but nothing
to help me with this. Just a single domain, no complications. Thanks

Hi Brian,

In my opinion, adding a Windows 2003 server as a member server to a Windows
2000 AD domain is just like adding a work station to the domain, as the
Windows 2003 server is not a DC.

If you want to promote it a DC in the future, you can consult the articles
below.

In addition, it seems you also plan to upgrade Exchange 2k to 2k3 since you
want to install Exchange 2k3 on win2k3 member server in the near future. As
I have known, you need to run Exchange adprep command before you add a
Exchange 2k3 into 2k environment. I suggest you post this question to
microsoft.public.exchange.setup newsgroup to get more accurate information
before you take any action.

Hope it helps!

Any further updates, let us get in touch!

Best regards,
