Compatibility check |

Is there a downloadable tool to run on Windows 2000 server without having the
Windows 2003 CD. We need to test compatibility ahead of time prior to
purchase of the new server software

Hi Colin,
Thanks for your posting here.
You can download Windows Upgrade Advisor from the following web page.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/upgrading/advisor.mspx
- Use the Windows Upgrade Advisor tool to determine if your software and
hardware is compatible with a clean installation of Windows XP Professional
or Windows Server 2003.

Thanks for the info but that only works for XP Pro upgrade.
Although the documentation says Windows 2003 it doesnt work and it says so
here
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/upgrading/advisor.mspx
That is the link that the Windows Upgrade Advisor takes you to and the 2003
upgrade center mentions the same link and you end up there again.
Any other ideas
Thanks

Hi Colin,
Other than running a pre-installation compatibility check from the Setup
CD, you can also check the hardware compatibility information available on
the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Web site. Also, as part of confirming
hardware compatibility, check to see that you have obtained updated
hardware device drivers and an updated system BIOS (or for an Itanium-based
computer, an updated Extensible Firmware Interface).
Reference:
For a comprehensive list of hardware and software supported by the Windows
Server 2003 operating system, see the Windows Server Catalog at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/catalog/server/.
Have a great holiday!
