Roaming Profiles - Not Accepting Changes!! |
|
|
Hi
Win2k Server
Win2k Clients
a roaming profile user has just reported that after deleting a shortcut from
there desktop, after a full reboot the shortcut had re-appeared.
it's not been added via a script, so something is wrong!
i just took a look at the permissions on the server for this users profile
and there were no objects listed at all!
is this normal..?
any ideas why this is happening?
Thanks

Script, whatever is irrelevant. The key is that the
profile is not getting updated on the server.
One reason is permissions as you indicate below, another
might be network problems, or even authentication.

You mean no permissions? No, that is not normal.
The user (and Admin) at least needs read to USE the
profile and change (or FC) to update it.
The user also needs change or FC on the SHARE to
be able to exercise those file (NTFS) permissions
through that share.

Seems right

Definitely seems wrong - -you lose all user settings.
