Remote (unavailable) DFS-Link makes Explorer Hang |

We have Windows 2003 DFS in place with multiple sites and 1 root server per
site.
We have DFS-Links that have local targets (with fail over to other site)
But we also have DFS-Links to servers in our main site.
When the Network goes down between the sites Windows Explorer hangs if we
have network mappings to DFS-Links that point to the main site.
(We have no problems when we have no mappings to the main site)
Why is Windows Explorer freezing? Is it checking the links constantely?
When the link comes back up it is instantly OK again!
How can we make sure this does not happen every time the network link goes
down?
