Let's say I have a forest consisting of one root domain and three child
domains, all with Win 2003. Is it possible to use DFS replication with links
which resides in root and child domains? (not in the same domain).

As far as I see, it is not possible, but I want a confirmation of that...

Thanks,
Gera

It is possible to enable FRS on a link whose targets are in different
domains in the same forest. See the DFS FAQ at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/techinfo/overview/dfsfaq.mspx

The question you want is called "Can I enable FRS replication on a DFS link
whose targets are in different domains?."

Thanks a lot for reply, it really helps.
But there is another problem:

I can only reach Replication Wizard when I re-target some link to another
share, not during setup of a link. Is it the only way it should work or I am
missing something? And even then, Replication Wizard shows only one repl.
partner and refuses to end the proccess.

Though I understand, that without explaining which servers, domains and
shares are used it may be hard to help in this situation.

It seems, that DFS replication on Win2000 was more logical and easy to
setup....

When you first create a link, you set up a single link target. When you go
to add another link target, you're given the option to enable replication.
Does this make help?

You know, some kind of madness happened to me.
I tried to create a replica between 2 links, not between 2 targets of some
link......

Of course, everything seems to be ok now, and it is possible to setup a
replication with root hosted on a AD root domain, and targets on child
domain shares.

Thanks a lot for clarifying.
