Hi Folks:

I Have a Windows 2K Domain with 3 domain controllers (all 3 are W2000
Servers); I have implemented a Fault Tolerant DFS between another 2 Windows
2003 Member Servers and has been experiencing differences in the content of
the folders between the 2 servers (Links).
When I check the Events (FRS) on the DFS Servers I Found Events 13552 and
13568, but on the other hand, when I check the events on all 3 Domain
Controllers, I didnÂīt find any of these events.
This means that I have ended disabling the referals on all folders due to
the fact that otherwise I will get my users being redirected to an outdated
folder content (Link).
If any of you people know how to figure the way out of this situation so I
could re-enable the referals so that the DFS do what is supposed to do, I
will apreciated your Help.

13568 indicates your server is in journal wrap.
You must perform a non-authoritative restore of the replica set on this
server.

Ok Glenn, you said "You must perform a non-authoritative restore of the
replica set on this server", Wich server are you talking about?; Remember
that in my scenario even though the DFS is a AD Fault Tolerant, the DFS was
implemented on two W2k3 menber servers.
So what I need to know is if this non-authoritative restore should be done
on the DFS servers or the Domain controllers.
Thank's 4 your time !!.

You must perform it on the server generating 13568s.

Glenn:
Let me tell you that this process has been a pain in the ass due to the fact
that the process has remove all the files in a folder named
"Ntfrs_PreExisting__See_Eventlog" where only administrators and the system
account have full control.
This means that less that 5 minutes after I started the process, I had all
my Users bitching about their files.
The good news is that slowly but surely all files that end up inside this
folder "Ntfrs_PreExisting__See_Eventlog" are being copied to the desired
location where users can see'em and have access to.
If I would know that this could happend I would it done it right after 18:00
Hs.
Let me Known if you have any other comments about this situation.

The recovery does indeed move all data into the preexisting folder.
Since you had users accessing this data while the server was in the 13568
state, it is likely some files on this server are newer than files on the
other replica members.
After the non-authoritative restore is complete, there will likely be a few
files left in the pre-existing folder.
These files are either new files that did not exist on the other replica
members, or they are files that had been updated while the server was in the
journal wrap state.
It is possible some users will complain that there files are older versions.
For these users, the versions they are looking for are likely in the
pre-existing folder.
You may have some cleanup to do.
